Teamwork
Students work together in teams to foster cooperation. Once they are seated in groups, their first task is to agree on a team name. This isn’t as easy as it sounds because they need to agree. They help each other with following directions, remembering the rules, and occasionally academic assignments. This also benefits our learning environment because it reduces the time I spend trying to get their attention and transitioning from one activity to next. There is more time for learning and fun if less time is spent on addressing behavior issues. Teams are reconfigured throughout the year so children have an opportunity to get to work with everyone.
